Pastor Anthony Maurice Booker is a gifted preacher, pastor/teacher who from a child has had an infinite for the Word of God and preaching. Childhood stores are told of him preaching to the children of his neighborhood and baptizing them in the neighbor’s swimming pools. Pastor Booker publicly confessed his called into the gospel minister in the year of 1992 and on the third Sunday of October of that year he preached his initial sermon.
In February of 1994 Pastor Booker was ordained in the gospel ministry by his grandfather the late Rev. Walter Booker Jr. God in his infinite wisdom placed him as pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church of Harlem in January 1997; one month after the retiring of his grandfather who served for thirty-five years. On the fourth Sunday in April 1997 Pastor Emeritus Rev. Walter Booker, Jr. installed Pastor Anthony Booker as the tenth pastor of New Hope. Pastor Anthony Booker served as pastor of New Hope Church for 23 years. On Sunday, February 9, 2020, He announced his resignation. While pasturing Hope Church the Lord accomplished great things through him to include thirteen ministries: youth & children, Elizabeth Ministry, couples, Men Fellowship, tribal system, helping hands and ministerial training courses; the church incorporated, a childcare facility built in Grovetown and thirty-four (34) acres of property purchased for ministry expansion and development.
On Saturday, February 8, 2020, the Broadway Baptist Church family of Augusta Georgia called Pastor Anthony Booker as their Eleventh Pastor. The Broadway Church family is a progressive ministry in the South Augusta area. Pastor Booker’s first Sunday in the pulpit will be Sunday, March 29th, 2020. In just a few months Pastor Booker has lead Broadway in a total renovation and upgrade project (Faith Forward Phase I), birthed several new ministries and has established the Missional purpose as ‘Empowering People to Impact the World!’ Pastor Booker has served as the State Coordinator of the State Baptist Youth and Young Adult Convention of General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc.; executive board member of General Missionary Baptist Convention; the Augusta-Richmond County Historic Commission, and as an instructor in the District Congress of Christian Education. He presently serves on the East Region Housing Authority which serves four Counties; President of the Baptist Ministers Conference of Augusta; East Regional Vice President for the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc., and Board member of the Downtown Development Authority of Augusta.
Prior to pasturing, Rev. Booker was employed by PM&A Consulting Engineers Inc. as a mechanical and electrical engineering designer; AM/C Mapping Analyst for Georgia Power and Product Engineer for Greenfield Industries, Inc. He has served as Minister of Music of the First Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Appling, GA and staff musician of the Antioch Baptist Church, Augusta, GA. Rev. Booker has degrees from Augusta Technical College and Georgia Military College, bachelor’s in religious studies from Beulah Heights University. The greatest success of his life he believes is his family. On August 20, 1988, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Anita Rolland-Booker, and they are the proud parents of Destini Aiyana- Carrie Booker who was born on December 7, 2000.
